Recommended Profile

There are two routes of admission to this Master’s Degree:

• Students who hold a bachelor’s degree in the field of Telecommunications which qualifies them for the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer, governed by Ministerial Order CIN/352/2009, will have direct admission to the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering.

• Applicants who hold other qualifications in the fields of study of Engineering and Architecture and Experimental Sciences may access this Master’s Degree via additional study. This additional study will require the applicant, as a minimum, to demonstrate the relevant competences of the core telecommunications module. In all cases, the Master’s Programme Academic Board will establish the additional study courses to be taken by the applicant, according to his/her profile and background.

Number of places:
15 places.

Admission to the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering is conditional upon the availability of places. Pursuant to the UCLM policy, applications will be assessed by the Master’s Academic Board.

General admission requirements

On a general basis, applicants who hold any of the following qualifications will have access to the University Master’s Degree, pursuant to the provisions of Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, which regulates official university studies:

• Official degree from a Spanish university.
• Degree issued by an institution of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), which confers admission to official Master’s programme.

1. Post-secondary education qualification issued by an institution outside of the European Higher Education Area. In this case official recognition as an official Spanish university degree is required. If it does not have this recognition, prior verification by the University of Castilla-La Mancha that said qualification demonstrates the required level of study equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that in the country of the issuing university the degree confers the holder admission to official Master’s degree programme. In this case, Authorisation from the University Rector.

    

   Specific admission requirements

   There are two routes of admission to the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering:

• Applicants who hold one of the following qualifications will have direct admission to the Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering:

   

1. Bachelor’s degrees which qualify their holders to practice the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer, governed by Ministerial Order CIN/352/2009.
2. Any other degree which, accrediting having completed basic training and core modules of the branch of study, while not covering a complete block of the specific technology module but does cover 48 credits of those offered together with the blocks of said module of the bachelor’s degree, qualifies its holder to practice the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer, pursuant to Ministerial Order CIN/352/2009.
3. Telecommunications Engineering.
4. Degrees equivalent to those previously issued by higher education institutions of European Higher Education Area.
5. Degrees obtained in educational institutions outside of the European Higher Education Area, without the need for the official recognition of the degree, subject to verification by the University of Castilla-La Mancha that they demonstrate the required level of study equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that in the country of the issuing university the degree confers the holder admission to postgraduate study.

• Applicants who hold other degrees in the fields of study of Engineering and Architecture (bachelor’s degree holders, technical engineers or engineers) and Experimental Sciences may access this Master’s Degree via additional study. This additional study will require the applicant, as a minimum, to demonstrate the relevant competences corresponding to the core telecommunications module, and to 48 credits of the total of the blocks of specific technology of the degree qualifying its holders to practice the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer, pursuant to Ministerial Order CIN/352/2009. To meet the additional study requirement all the Basic Training, Core and Optional subjects comprising the Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Technologies Engineer taught at the Polytechnic School of Cuenca are offered to applicants.

In all cases, subjects taken in any other degree course leading to the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer will be recognised as additional study. The Master’s Degree Programme Academic Board will establish the additional study courses to be taken by the applicant, according to his/her profile and background.

Selection Criteria

The following criteria will be taken into account in this assessment:

• Suitability of the entry degree: up to a maximum of 40 points, in the following order:
• Graduates who are not required to complete additional study courses: up to a maximum of 40 points, depending on the entry qualification.

– Bachelor’s degrees which qualify their holders to practice the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer:  40 points.

– Degrees which do not qualify their holders to practice the profession of Technical Telecommunications Engineer: 30 points.

– Foreign degrees within the European Higher Education Area: 20 points.

– Foreign degrees outside of the European Higher Education Area: 10 points

Graduates required to complete additional study courses: up to a maximum of 20 points, depending on the amount of further studies to be completed:

–  Between 6 and 30 ECTS: 20 points.

–  Between 30 and 60 ECTS: 10 points.

–  Over 60 ECTS: 0 points.

• Assessment of the academic record of the official university qualification conferring admission to the Master’s programme: up to a maximum of 40 points depending on the average grade.

• Additional studies (courses, seminars and other training activities accredited with a certificate) or professional experience in relation to the content of the Master’s Degree:up to a maximum of 10 points.

• Level of English and Spanish: up to a maximum of 10 points. Generally, for both of the above-mentioned admission routes, applicants must provide evidence of a minimum of the equivalent of a B1, pursuant to the European Framework of Reference for Languages, as the course will be taught in said languages. To meet this requirement, the applicant must have the following (this does not apply to the applicant’s native language):

– Level B2 in English or Spanish: 5 points.

– Level C1 in English or Spanish: 7.5 points.

– Level C2 in English or Spanish: 10 points.

As proof of their language level, applicants may use any of the accreditation mechanisms set out in the policy “Proof of competence in a foreign language for obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree at the UCLM and for admission to certain study courses of the Master’s Degree programme” (approved by the Governing Board on 2 March 2010 and amended by the 26 February 2013), which is available via the following link www.uclm.es/doc/?id=UCLMDOCID-12-20, otherwise they must pass a level test designed for such purpose by the Master’s Degree Programme Academic Board.
