Seminar on writing scientific articles. 04 NOV 2025, from 15 to 17h

10/10/2025

Organized by the PhD program in Sciences and Technologies applied to Industrial Engineering in UCLM

The PhD program in Sciences and Technologies applied to Industrial Engineering is organizing a two-hour seminar on writing scientific articles on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. This activity is funded by the Vice Chancellor’s Office for Scientific Policy for training activities within the scope of UCLM doctoral programs.

The seminar aims at clarifying the most important aspects to be considered in writing scientific papers to support doctoral students in the fields of Science, Engineering, and Architecture, and more specifically those in the PhD Program in Sciences and Technologies Applied to Industrial Engineering in this important activity.

The objective of the seminar is to provide the appropriate skills to improve the chances of success in publishing scientific results in prestigious journals indexed by SCI. More specifically, the attendees will become familiar with macro and meso-structure of an article with successful examples. They will receive also suggestions on how to structure scientific arguments through some specific examples aimed at making sentences clearer and more meaningful. Furthermore, some general information related to the publication process in scientific journals, as well as their indexes, will be provided

The activity will consist of two parts: a more descriptive presentation by the speaker on all the issues surrounding the publication of articles, and a more practical presentation on examples of typical mistakes made when writing articles. This seminar aims to provide doctoral students with theoretical and practical knowledge to guide them in their initial steps when preparing a scientific article, in order to enhance its impact. The seminar will be taught by Associate Professor Luca Cioccolanti, Professor of Energy Systems at eCampus University - Italy. Professor Cioccolanti has international teaching and research experience as documented by https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Luca-Cioccolanti?ev=hdr_xprf.

The activity will be held in classroom 0.10.1 of the Polytechnic building on the Ciudad Real Campus via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, November 4, from 15 to 17h. Students are requested to request it by email before 12:00 p.m. on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31st, 2025.
