Presentation

The Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) of the Faculty of Communication aims at continuously improve the quality of teaching and the services provided in our centre. Our CGIC is designed following the ANECA guidelines.

The establishment of a quality assurance system is a basic strategic factor to achieve continuous improvement of official degrees, so that the skills and aptitudes of students are known by employers and society. The development of quality assurance systems requires and adequate balance between the actions promoted by university institutions and the external quality assurance procedures, favoured by evaluation agencies. Both result in the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) of the reference university system.

Comission

According to the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) of the UCLM verified by ANECA, the Internal Quality Assurance Commission (CGIC) of the Faculty of Journalism is a body that participates in the planning and monitoring tasks of the SGIC, also acting as one of the internal communication vehicles for the policies, goals, plans programs, responsibilities and achievements of the system.

Since 2019, the Internal Quality Assurance Commission of the Faculty of Journalism (modification approved by the Faculty Board) is made up of:

Normative

Normative that regulates the functioning of the CGIC:

APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS
The Dean will be the President of the Commission and will choose, among the members of his management team, the quality coordinator. The Faculty Board will elect the rest of the members of the commission:
- A PDI of each of the official degrees and masters of the centre.
- A student representative of each of the official degrees and masters of the centre.
- A PAS representative attached to the centre.
- Optionally, the centre/Faculty Board may appoint external agents: Professional Associations, Representatives of the Business Sector, Graduates…
Once the Commission is constituted, it will proceed to appoint the Secretary from among its members.

Likewise, the Centre Board will appoint an alternate from each of the groups that make up the Centre’s Quality Assurance Commission.
RENEWAL OF COMMISSION MEMBERS
The appointment of each member/alternate will be for a period of four years, unless they lose the condition for which they were elected. The renewal process will ensure that the changes guarantee the continuity of the Commission’s tasks.
CALL AND PERIODICITY OF MEETINGS
The Centre’s Quality Assurance Committee must meet regularly, at least every six months, after being called by the president. One of these meetings will be held during the last quarter of the year.

The quorum for the valid constitution of the commission sessions will be that of the absolute majority of its members.

If there is no quorum, the Commission will be constituted on a second call withing 24 hours after the first one. The constitution will be valid on second call provided that at least one third of the members of the Internal Quality Assurance Commission are present. If the constitution on second call is not possible, a third call will be held within the following two business days, with a quorum of three members of the Commission.

The ordinary meetings of the Internal Quality Assurance Commission will be held by the President, who will establish the agenda and will be attached to the call sent by the Secretary. The President must accept for its inclusion in the agenda any proposal made by at least 1/3 of the members of the Committee, put in writing and presented in advance of the date of the meeting.

The President will ensure compliance with the order and regularity of the deliberations and debates in meetings, so he/she will grant and withdraw the floor, will maintain order in the debates and will submit to a vote the issues that must be approved by the Commission.
VOTING

The agreements of the Commission will be adopted by simple majority. The President shall have a casting vote in the event of an equal number of votes for or against a proposed decision.

Voting will be secrete when requested by any of the members of the Commission.

At the end of each semester, the course coordinators will prepare a report on the development of teaching based on the information provided by students and professors. The degree coordinator and the quality coordinator process the data, propose improvement actions and communicate the most important insights to those affected and to the Faculty Board.

Teaching Coordination

The Faculty of Communication is committed to teaching coordination and constant improvement actions in the process of implementation of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication, as well as the Double Bachelor Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism. To this end, the Faculty Board holds monthly meetings with the participation of professors from the Department of Journalism and from other areas, as well as PAS representatives and students. These meetings allow continuity in the evaluation and planning of teaching and organizational activities of the centre. Likewise, shared work tools are used regularly (mailing lists, file managers, virtual campus…).

As part of the coordination work, the teaching team has prepared a plan that includes the distribution of tasks with objectives in various areas of intervention ofr the academic year 2014-2015.

The Commission for the Internal Quality Assurance and Degree Coordination has established guidelines to adapt the functions of the course coordinators and the validation of teaching guides.
