esearch is a core activity at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. Indeed, in the first articles of the statutes of this academic institution "the creation, development and criticism of science, of technique and culture by means of study and research" are acknowledged to be its fundamental aims.
The University of Castilla-La Mancha displays its vast research activity with the work of its 283 groups and 37 centres and Research and Development centres, a task which has been acknowledged with this university being placed in the main world education classification publications, such as the Times Higher Education (THE), which stresses the effects of its research, or the Shanghai ranking.
One of the greatest landmarks in this area came into fruition with the attainment of Regional Campus of International Excellence in the European setting with the CYTEMA Project ( Energy and Environment Science and Technology Campus). This recognition was granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (MECD), and the highest grade was obtained in the evaluation carried out by an international commission of experts.
