Información General

The micro-credential course "Water Management for the Food Industry" provides a comprehensive overview of the water cycle, its quality, and treatment in the agri-food sector. Participants will learn to identify water contaminants and the unit operations necessary for their removal, as well as the main disinfecting agents and their characteristics. The uses of reclaimed water and the associated regulations will be addressed, along with the parameters for characterizing wastewater and the required values for its discharge. Additionally, wastewater treatment technologies and their application in industrial processes will be explored, including specific strategies for the agri-food industry, considering the water requirements in thermal exchange, processing, and cleaning processes.

This micro-credential defines 4 expected learning outcomes. Each of them will allow the acquisition of competencies aligned with ESCO, the European multilingual classification of skills, competencies, qualifications, and occupations, which identifies and classifies the skills, competencies, qualifications, and occupations relevant to the EU labor market as well as EU education and training.

  • Learning Outcome 1: Provide a comprehensive overview of the water cycle and the parameters for characterizing water for monitoring and controlling its quality, as well as wastewater.
  • Learning Outcome 2: Identify the unit operations necessary for water conditioning and treatment, as well as the main disinfecting agents and their characteristics.
  • Learning Outcome 3: Identify uses of reclaimed water and the associated regulations, parameters for characterizing wastewater, and the required values for its discharge.
  • Learning Outcome 4: Explore wastewater treatment technologies and their application in industrial processes, including specific strategies for the agri-food industry.
