UCLM Occupational Health and Safety and Environment Unit (SPMA)

The UCLM Occupational Health and Safety and Environment Unit (SPMA) is an advisory unit without executive capacity, in charge of providing the UCLM with the advice, support and coordination necessary to carry out the preventive activities required in order to guarantee the adequate protection of the safety and health of workers, advising and assisting the government team, workers and their representatives, as well as specialized representative bodies.

  • To provide the necessary advice to improve compliance with the Health and Safety regulations.
  • Preparation and implementation of prevention plans and programs.
  • Collaboration in the implementation of self-protection plans for buildings.
  • Carry out occupational risk assessments
  • To propose measures to control and reduce risks
  • To propose the application of specific preventive measures established in the specific regulations.
  • To promote general preventive training and information for all workers, at all levels.
  • Preparation of training programs and plans in the subjects of the areas of specialization, after analyzing training needs.
  • Technically coordinate the surveillance of the health of the workers.
  • To propose, disclose and maintain the UCLM's internal Prevention Regulations in matters of Health and Safety.
  • To develop programs that include periodic technical inspections in order to control compliance with technical and legal standards.
  • The preparation, implementation and control of the Management Plan for hazardous waste generated by the UCLM.
  • Supervision of the performance of evacuation drills, issuing subsequent reports on their development, including proposals for improving facilities, equipment and resources.
  • To act with the Prevention Societies, with which health surveillance has been contracted, on behalf of the UCLM as a technical interlocutor, supervising and controlling that it complies at all times with the commitments contracted with the UCLM in this matter.
